About
Nov 2nd 2007
Hi, I am Amy Jo Hines and I am the author of amyjohines.com, a blog to help parents balance personal growth and goals with the demands of having a family.
I have been a WAHM in the web development industry since my eldest son was born in 2002. Since then I have been trying to balance fulfilling my goals while keeping my priorities in line (God and family first), and I want to help other parents do the same. Even as a child I was a perfectionist who wanted to know everything, becoming a Mom was the best thing for me as it motivated me to prioritize my goals and to not waste time by procrastinating.
More About Me
I was born in Kalispell, MT in 1980. I’m proud to be a native Montanan. I came from a great family, with devoted parents. Real Life (TM) started in 2000, when I married my true love, Kevin Hines, and moved to Missoula, MT. Then I figured out how hard life is, and that running a household was not as easy as my Mom made it look.
My Fairy Tale Ends
My life shattered in the winter of 2001, when my mother died of cancer. Now I had no one to turn to. I became very depressed, quit school and working, and sat at home being sad and angry. God saves us in mysterious ways, and on Valentine’s Day in 2002 my call to wakeup came in the form of my husband losing his job.
Starting (To Live) All Over Again
Unknown to me at the time, I was also pregnant with our oldest son. In July 2002 Jonathan was born, 2 weeks late, healthy and very opinionated. After his birth I became a SAHM (stay at home Mom), and started developing websites for people I knew. In February 2004 we had a second son, David, who was (and is) much more relaxed.
The summer of 2004 we sold our house and moved back to Kalispell. There our youngest son, Andrew, was born in May of 2006, persistant and strong.
My Current Goals
Currently, my major goals are preparing to test for my black belt in Taekwondo in November, increasing my income so my husband can go back to school and re-focusing my life on God. My husband and I live in Kalispell, MT, with our children, three dogs and two cats.
